GLOBAL COMPETENCE CERTIFICATION STANDARD
In 2024, Talent Odyssey developed and launched the Global Competence Certification Standard (GCCS) — a framework designed to bring clarity, consistency, and credibility to the assessment of professional competences at an international level.
This milestone is the result of over 1.5 years of intensive work, research, and consultation with partners across multiple markets, with a particular focus on Europe.
For many years, we have operated at the intersection of education and the labour market. Our team brings together expertise in international recruitment, vocational training, and the development of education projects across Europe. We have designed and delivered programmes that not only enhance skills, but — crucially — translate into real employment outcomes and long-term career progression.
This experience led us to a clear conclusion: despite sustained efforts to harmonise standards across Europe, employers continue to face significant challenges in reliably assessing the qualifications of candidates from different countries. Variations in education systems, certification frameworks, and practical experience often make it difficult to fully recognise an individual’s true potential.
In response, and building on our experience and extensive European partner network, we developed GCCS to address this structural gap.

What GCCS Is
GCCS is a global framework for the validation and certification of competences across borders. It establishes:
– a clear governance model,
– accreditation principles for authorised certification bodies,
– standardised assessment and examination requirements,
– integrity and quality assurance mechanisms,
– minimum technical standards to ensure consistency and trust.
The system operates through accredited partners, harmonised assessment processes, and central oversight, ensuring that certification outcomes are credible, comparable, and recognised internationally.
Why GCCS Matters
GCCS focuses on interdisciplinary competences — the transferable knowledge, skills, and capabilities increasingly required in today’s labour market, yet often underrepresented in traditional, sector-based qualification systems.
Developed in response to structural shifts such as digital transformation and the evolving nature of work, GCCS provides a transparent and independently verified way to certify what individuals can demonstrably do — regardless of where or how those competences were acquired.
